I’ve been living Murphy’s law; If something can go wrong, it will. This time my hard drive filled up. Steve and I were recording a song he wrote and I suddenly saw on the screen a message telling me there wasn’t any more room. Inflation is running rampant not only in government spending but, in the bytes it takes to make entertainment. When I was young a million was a big number and I had heard of a billion but, I wasn’t really sure what multiple of a million it was nor did I think I would ever have to deal with a number that big. When I was recording just audio I bought an external hard drive with 160 gigs. That was probably 4 years ago. I copied the whole hard drive from the G4 mac onto it for backup and it barely made a dent. Everything BoScoDen recorded fit on it, all the music I created through a lifetime of creating seemed like a suitcase in an aircraft hanger. Barely one month of video for Music From Bob’s Basement and I’m wondering how many terabytes I need.

Acer Aspire One
Saturday, August 8th, 2009I bought a new computer. An Acer Aspire One. It does a lot of stuff I need to do. Everyone warned me that there’s a lot of stuff it won’t do but, I have 2 mac G4 towers and a G5 tower too. They aren’t very portable. This computer is 2.44 lbs. I can’t fit it in my pocket but, I can fit it in the pocket of my guitar case. I feel like I’ve moved to the dark side. I’ve never really used anything but a mac. I had to ask about what the right button is for. It runs on Windows XP and I have no idea what that means. I heard something about there being a Windows Vista and I was under the impression that was the most recent version of Windows. The battery is finished charging so, I’m going to go play with my new toy.
It’s now 2 days later and I’ve been playing with my new toy. I discovered that I don’t know how to copy and paste in windows. I’ve relied heavily on having my computer remember my passwords; I can’t get into my email at bobstone@boscoden.com anymore. I noticed that my email address automatically became a link. You can still email me. I can get to my mail on another computer and it gets redirected to another address anyway. It’s a new machine and it has a learning curve. I’m hoping I’ll master it faster than my loop station.
